Celebrating thanksgiving in Iraq

The way that our troops celebrate thanksgiving is with a turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie along with a visit by the commanding general in Iraq and a phone call from president Obama. However, Obama just called 10 troops. As the U.S military commander toured several bases and join security stations to personally tell U.S troops how much they’re appreciated and also wish them a happy thanksgiving. They also played a game flag football in the muddy field.
They also said that they ship thanksgiving meals to 18,000 troops in Afghanistan and Iraq this year. They use 63,000pounds of potatoes, 8,700 cans of cranberry sauce, 61,000 pounds of stuffing and more than 46,500 pounds of turkey. For dessert, there was 67,000 pies and cakes.

The Big Day

Everyone is waiting for “Black Friday” to come. Black Friday is after Thanksgiving. That day shoppers buy as much as they can. The marketers are expecting a lot of people that day and take advantage over those great deals. The article “Black Friday: Prepare for the Fight” by Mike Krumboltz. Mr. Krumbolts says that some stores that have great deals are Walmart , Best Buy, and Target. The marketers are giving 720p plasma TV for $598.Their electronic devices are great deals for black Friday. The more great deals the marketers give the better for the costumers.
Back Friday is a day where everyone is waiting to come. I think the deals the marketers give are great. Especially because Christmas is coming up and many people are buying gifts before that day comes. I was surprise that this markets that are so big are going to give great deals. However, because their electronic devices are expensive and would never lower it that much. Hope that black Friday will benefit the marketers and shoppers.

Suicide

Rober Enke age 32 a goalkeeper from the German national soccer team has killed himself by stepping in front of a train. He was captain of the German top division soccer club. He was expected to be the German team’s keeper in the 2010 world cup. His wife Teresa said that his husband committed suicide because he left a note. The wife also said that Enke had been battling depression for six years but had kept his condition to the public. The Enkes has a daughter that died in 2006 from a heart condition at the age of 2. They had also adopted a daughter couple of months ago that is 18 months old.
Suicide is a very dig deal especially for a famous person. In my point of view for a person to commit suicide they had to have a lot of problems or be very depress. When we are really depress or have problems we don’t really think that well. We see everything negative and nothing positive come to our mind.

Venezuela and Colombia

In the news they said that two international bridges between Venezuela and Colombia have been close since Monday. The closure of the Simon Bolivar and Fransico de la Paula Santande international bridges has bring tension between neighbors. They also have pictures of people crossing the boarder on foot. Also people carrying goods across the shallow rive. When Venezuelan authorities are still searching for three people and arrested fourth suspects in the death of two national guardsmen.
Venezuela blamed Colombia for the attacks. However, Colombia authorities has not respond to the claims. As they also said the relations between Colombia and Venezuela has been bad since the summer. Colombia has also accused Venezuela of supplying guerillas with shoulder-fired antitank weapons.

plane crash

I saw on CNN that a small plane crash into a Lawrenceville house and brush into flames last Friday. Killing the pilot and a woman that was in the house at the time of the crash. The husband was in the house at the time of the crash but he manage to escape. They said that neither the pilot or the woman were immediately identified. The house was engulfed in flames. One of the neighbors said that there was a massive explosion. That is when he ran out his home to see what had happened. They also said that the husband tried to save his wife. He was trying and trying to go back in to the house. But the neighbors kept pilling him back so he wont go in to the house. The flames were pretty high at the time that the husband wanted to go into the house.

H1NI vaccine

As we all know the vaccine H1N1 is really important for everyone. A lot of people are trying to get the vaccine for them self and family members. But I just saw in the news that a lot of clinics and hospitals had run out of vaccines. They also said that they may not be available until perhaps November. They also said that the center for disease control and prevention announce last week that the product of the vaccine is slower than what they expected to be.

A lot of people are getting desperate that they can not find a place where to get the vaccine. They said that the public health department have been receiving a lot of calls from people wanting to know where they can go and get the vaccine. People don’t care how far they would have to go just to get the vaccine. But people should know that the H1N1 vaccine is not for everyone. They should first talk to their doctors before going somewhere else to get the vaccine.

swine flue

I was watching the news the other day and they where still talking about the swine flue. They where saying that the swine flue has cause a lot of child deaths this fall. They are also telling us that this new strain is different from the regular winter flue. They suppose this because it strikes the young far more than the old people. They are also saying this because of all the children that have died from the flue. The DCD has counted 40 to 50 child death for the entire flue seasons. They also said that no one knows how long this swine flue outbreak will last.

Earthquakes

As we all knows two large earthquakes just hit Indonesia in this couple of days. The towns are destroy. People don’t have homes and food to eat. They also don’t have no light power and a lot of other services. Some people are struggling to find all their relatives alive. As we all wish that every single person in Indonesia was alive we all know that is not possible. In every building that got destroy they are finding people death. But the people don’t give up they are all looking for survivors. They are keeping up the hopes until the end. They know that they have to help each other in this moments that if they don’t help then other people wont do it either.

This two earthquakes have realize that no one is ready for things like this. Everyone tell us that we should buy water, can food and a lot of other things but when a earthquake like this happens everything gets destroy too. We should all talk to our family members am make a plan on where we will meet if something like this would happen in our town.

Alcohol

I heard in the news that alcohol is the major cause of accident .However, according to some study they say that it may actually protect the drain from a life-threatening injury when you are on the influence of alcohol. In this study they show us that people that are under the influence of alcohol and have a accident have a lower risk of dying of the injuries than those who had not been drinking. They also said that 9.7 percent of people that has not been drinking died after a brain injury. And only 7.7 percent of people with alcohol their blood died after a brain injury.
This report was very shocking for me when I heard it. I did not know the percentage of people that died in a car accident. I also did not know that the percentage of people that died when they are in the influence of alcohol was lower then for the ones that have no alcohol on their blood . As everyone knows most of the time the people that died in a car accident are the ones that are driving good and sometimes have their kids with them in the car at that moment of the accident. Just because the person on the other car is drunk.

Fires Being A Big Deal

As everyone knows at this moment there is a lot of people that have no home because the fires have been going in Los Angeles. I just don’t understand why people are so coldhearted to start a fire. They have to be sick and out of their minds to do that. They don’t think about all the families that they are going to destroy in one way or another. Some families berly make enough money to survive.They berly had money to buy all the material things that they need for their homes.
There has also been people that had been killed from the fires. These people are firefighters that are only trying to help out. They all have family members that when they go to work they are always expecting them to come back home safe. But because someone did something stupid this persons will never go back home with their families. They will not be able to see their kids run around or play with them.
